The devastating earthquake that hit central Italy on April 6, 2009, has left hundreds of people dead, thousands injured, and tens of thousands without homes. Centuries-old houses and churches have been damaged or destroyed. From the farms to the small town of Onna to the region’s capital of L’Aquila, no one in the region of Abruzzo is untouched by the disaster.

In response, we have established the Columbus Citizens Foundation Abruzzo Earthquake Relief Fund. Every dollar contributed to the fund will benefit victims of the earthquake.

“The members of the Columbus Citizens Foundation stand in solidarity with the survivors of the Abruzzo earthquake,” said Louis Tallarini, President of the Foundation. "Our hearts and prayers are with the survivors, those who perished, and the workers and volunteers who are working tirelessly to help the survivors rebuild their lives."

“Our Foundation stands poised to assist the men, women and children whose lives were shattered,” Mr. Tallarini continued. “We have called on our members to provide relief assistance. They are responding generously, as they did in the aftermath of the earthquake in Italy in 1980, when we donated over $225,000 towards the relief effort. We now call on all Americans to think of the thousands of people afflicted and their tremendous needs today and of the mission of rebuilding lives that will take years.”

All contributions to the CCF Abruzzo Earthquake Relief Fund are tax deductible, and every dollar donated will benefit survivors of the Abruzzo earthquake.
