Columbus Citizens Foundation Honors U.S. Veterans, Pledges Support to American Veterans Center27-May-2016
This Memorial Day weekend, the Columbus Citizens Foundation announced a pledge of $5,000 to the American Veterans Center. This pledge will help transport veterans to Washington DC for Monday’s National Memorial Day Parade.
Angelo Vivolo, President of the Columbus Citizens Foundation, said of the donation; "There is no better timing than Memorial Day weekend for the Columbus Citizens Foundation to give back to our veterans. We do so in honor of 2008 Columbus Day Parade Grand Marshal Admiral Edmond P. Giambastiani Jr; 2006 Columbus Day Parade Grand Marshal General Peter Pace and 2012 Columbus Day Honoree General Raymond T. Odierno.”
“We also take time this weekend to remember the many Italian-American servicemen and women who have defended our country with honor," Vivolo continued. "The Foundation anticipates future collaboration with the American Veterans Center and other groups advocating for veterans’ rights as we continue to recognize the military service given to this country by the Italian-American community."“The support of the Columbus Citizens Foundation is a wonderful tribute to the bravery of so many Italian-American servicemen and women,” said James C. Roberts, President of the American Veterans Center, “and their gift benefits all U.S. veterans who have served their country with such pride and courage.”
