Currently Ms. Pellegrini holds the world records in the Women's 200 Meter Freestyle (long and short courses) and 400 Meter Freestyle (long course). At the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Ms. Pellegrini became the first woman ever to break the 4 minute barrier in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 3:59.15. She had the biggest victory in her career when she won the Olympic Gold Medal in the 200 Meter Freestyle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In a series of stunning races, she set new world records in both the heats and the final and clocked 1:54.82 in the latter.

Ms. Pellegrini’s first appearance on the international podium was at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where she won the silver medal in the 200 Meter Freestyle at the age of 16, becoming the youngest athlete ever to win an Olympic medal in an individual event in the history of Italian sports. Ms. Pellegrini was born on August 5, 1988 in Mirano in the province of Venice.

The celebrated Federica Pellegrini became the first Italian woman to win Olympic gold with her victory in the 200 meter freestyle in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is also the only the only Italian swimmer to have set world records in more than one event.
