CCF to Make Donation in Support of Campaign to Restore St. Patrick’s Cathedral

30-Oct-2013

Gift of $130,000+ Will Help Stabilize and Repair Stonework and Windows of Inspiring and Legendary New York City Landmark

New York, NY, October 30, 2013 – The Columbus Citizens Foundation today announced a donation of over $130,000 to benefit the ongoing restoration of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Frank Fusaro, President of the Columbus Citizens Foundation, will present a symbolic check to Timothy Cardinal Dolan at the Foundation on November 20, 2013.

“The members of the Columbus Citizens Foundation recognize the incredible impact that our Italian heritage has had on our lives and its contribution to our individual successes,” said Frank Fusaro, President of the Foundation. “For many of us, part of that heritage is our Catholic faith. Just as we have dedicated ourselves to preserving and enhancing the culture, traditions and values we were so blessed to receive in honor of those who came before us, we are honored to help preserve and maintain St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the seat of the Archdiocese of New York and a source of inspiration to many people throughout the world, regardless of their faith.”

“What a joy to receive the support of the Columbus Citizens Foundation in this historic restoration of “America’s Parish Church,” said Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York. “The Cathedral was built by the hard work of many immigrants of diverse backgrounds and we are grateful to again receive support from the sons and daughters of Italy.”

The multi-year restoration project, which was launched on March 17, 2012, has begun to solidify and preserve the exterior and interior of the Cathedral. To date the bronze doors are in the process of being cleaned and resealed, the organ was removed and is being restored off site, and the stained glass windows are being intricately restored by a team of specialists. The restoration, a $175 million campaign, will ensure that the Cathedral endures for future generations.

Cardinal Dolan, who has had a long standing relationship with the Foundation as have his predecessors before him, will also become Chaplain of the Foundation.
